National Debt Line

With consumer debt at record levels, there is an independent organisation that can provide free and impartial advice to homeowners known as the National Debt Line. The service was set up in 1987 and covers England, Wales and Scotland. The organization operates in Birmingham, England, and is funded by Government and private donations and forms part of the Money Advice Trust, (registered charity no 1099506).

National Debtline is a national telephone helpline for people with debt problems in England, Wales and Scotland. They provide expert advice over the telephone and via email and send callers in debt a self-help information pack free of charge. The service is free, confidential and independent. National Debtline can also assist callers who wish to deal with their debts through a Debt Management Plan.

The purpose of the National Debt Line is to provide communication channels in the form of the telephone, email and letter for homeowners who are in serious debt and require help and advice. It is worth noting that the Law relating to debt is different if you live in Scotland compared to England and Wales, therefore, you will need to state where you live or use the correct part of the website. In addition to be able to speak to a representative, debt information and advice is available to download on the national debt line website.
